Cerro Tronador - Cascada Los Alerces

La excursión se dirige hacia el sur de Bariloche recorriendo 35km para bordear el lago Gutierrez y Mascardi.

Se desvía por un camino de ripio hacia el oeste. Este recorrido se toma atravesando el puente sobre el rio Manso, bordeando nuevamente el lago Mascardi por su costa oeste. Se pasa frente al cerro Los Emparedados y se bordea el rio Manso Superior hasta llegar a Pampa Linda.

Luego se atraviesa parte del Valle de los Vuriloches y finalmente, pasando por un bosque umbrío, se arriba al mirador ubicado en la base del cerro Tronador, en la cual se obtiene la espectacular vista del glaciar del río Manso, más conocido como Ventisquero Negro, un glaciar negro originado por una excepcional sedimentación del mismo color, cuyo origen es el blanco inmaculado de la cima del Cerro Tronador. En este lugar nace el rio Manso que baja por el cerro para desembocar en el Océano Atlántico.

El recorrido culmina un poco más adelante al pie del cerro Tronador. Desde este punto, el viajero caminando, puede llegar hasta la misma lengua del glaciar.

Este cerro lleva el nombre de Tronador, debido a los estruendos que originan los desprendimientos de bloques de hielo. Los tres picos del Tronador son, argentino (3410 m), Internacional (3478 m) y chileno (3430 m), ascendidos por montañistas durante el verano.

La Cascada de Los Alerces es una opción de la excursión al Tronador. En lugar de cruzar el puente sobre el rio Manso, se continúa por el camino de ripio bordeando el lago Los Moscos y el rio Manso, más adelante se llega al Lago Hess finalizando la ruta junto a la Cascada Los Alerces. Recorriendo a pie los 300 metros restantes se llega al mirador de la cascada, desde allí se puede ver el agua precipitándose con una caída de 30 metros de altura entre las altas rocas. El regreso se efectúa por el mismo camino.

Deflected by a gravel road to the west. This route is taken across the bridge over the river Manso, along the western shore of Lake Mascardi. It passes in front of the "Cerro Emparedado" and borders the Upper Manso River up to Pampa Linda.

Then it crosses part of the Valley of the Vuriloches and finally, through a shady forest, we arrive to the viewpoint at the base of the hill Tronador, which gives spectacular views of the glacier Rio Manso, better known as Black Glacier, a black glacier caused by an exceptional sedimentation of the same color, whose base is the pure white of the summit of Cerro Tronador. Here comes the Manso river down the hill and flows into the Atlantic Ocean.

The tour ends a little later at the foot of the hill Tronador. 

This hill is named Thunderer, due to the rumblings that cause the detachment of ice blocks. The three peaks of Tronador are Argentina (3410 m), International (3478 m) and Chile (3430 m), promoted by climbers during the summer.

The "Cascada los Alerces" is an option on the tour to the Tronador. Instead of crossing the bridge over the River Manso, continue along the gravel road along the lake Moscos and river Manso arriving to Lake Hess finalizing the route near the Cascada Los Alerces. Walking the remaining 300 meters you reach the viewpoint of the waterfall, from where you can see the water rushing with a drop of 30 meters between the high rocks. The return is made by the same path.
